Default "A true next-gen game"

I just got the January 2008 Computer Graphics World in the mail, and the cover is an image from "Assassin's Creed". The caption reads, "Cutting Edge... Assassins's Creed proves itself as a true next-gen game." The graphics that I've seen in magazines and online are amazing. The article in CGW also goes into detail about the animation. A note of interest is that they sold 2.5 million copies of the game in the first four weeks.

This is the third in a 3-part series on next-gen games. The first two were about Stranglehold and Halo 3.

I'm wondering if anyone here has played Assassin's Creed yet, and if so if you they have any thoughts... particularly regarding the graphics and animation.

Thanks!

I already played the game, and beat it. I wanna say that review is freakin hilarious and it does a good job reviewing the game but makes it funny at the same time. The reviewer was right on, and it was definitely a good game. He didn't really mention the visuals too much so I thought I would add that the visuals are VERY good in my opinion. Also the killing animations look pretty sweet to me. I heard they were recycled from Prince of Persia, but I don't know for sure since I never played it. It can get pretty repetitive though as the guy said. Hopefully the sequel will deliver more action.

Cannot comment on Assassin's Creed, as I have not yet played it yet, but if you are looking for next gen graphics, keep your eye on Force Unleashed. Their DMM & Euphoria tech is f***ing insane. I just hope they don't dum it down before release like Oblivion's AI was...

Assassin creed is "innovative". I have the game, and it got rly boring after the second hour. You basically do the same stuff over and over and over a gain. Each assassination feels like the same thing.

The game itself is incredible, but it gets old quickly.
I recommend renting it.

......Ever Heard of Mario Galaxy? Thats all I can freakin say.

Anyways 10 bucks say when Smash Bros Brawl Comes It wont hit any "true Next-Gen" articles cus their all prejudice
(Famitsu that jap Mag gave it a 10....but they lost credibility since you know...they gave FF12 a 10)

I've played AC from what I experienced the graphics and animation are a amazing. The towns feel more realistic than the towns in Oblivion. However I thought the game was too repetitive.

Next-Gen to me symbolizes shoddy work, flashy graphics, weak or non-existent storyline, lack of lore or desecration of existing lore, bugs and errors, frequent patches, unfinished products, and all the other elements of next-gen. I do not consider it a compliment. Quite the opposite. I consider it a grave insult.
